Dedicated Women Raise over $50,000 for Easter Seals Services
SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – February 1, 2010. Easter Seals – Michigan celebrated the women of the annual For Women Only Snowmobile Ride this past weekend at the Kewadin Casino & Resort in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
Forty-five ladies enjoyed a beautiful, snowy day on Saturday as they hit the trails in Sault Ste. Marie. After the ride, the women enjoyed pampering by local spa consultants. The women finished off the day at a banquet in their honor and were joined by representatives from event sponsors Nelsons Speed Shop and the Michigan Snowmobile Association. At the banquet, riders also met Easter Seals – Michigan’s 2010 child ambassador families and learned more about the people served by Easter Seals.
Easter Seals was proud to recognize the highest fundraisers of the event; Laura Hires (Montague, Mich.), the highest fundraiser, who raised $10,263.38, and Sharon Sherlund (Cedarville, Mich.), the second highest fundraiser, who raised $5,525.00. In total, the women of the FWO ride raised $51,318.21 to benefit Easter Seals – Michigan’s donor funded therapies. The money raised at this event will go directly to speech and language therapies, occupational therapies, and other therapies for children with autism or other disabilities in the state of Michigan.
Easter Seals – Michigan would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the women who participated in this year’s For Women Only Snowmobile Ride, who worked tirelessly year-round as advocates of Easter Seals’ mission. Their hard work this year will enable families in Michigan to receive much-needed services for their children. On behalf of those families, we thank you.
